Practice Services

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is provided for all our patients by Western Cheshire Primary Care Trust at the Countess of Chester Health Park..

The Physiotherapists are being trained on to use our computerised appointment system. We hope to encourage further computer use, especially in recording treatment outcomes and the effectiveness of physiotherapy.

The Physiotherapists have held back pain meetings in the practice to educate and inform us about this complaint, which causes the greatest sickness absence within any workforce and generates a lot of referrals constantly.

Mental Health

The practice has worked closely with the PCT in order to improve the delivery of Mental Health Services across the city and for the benefit of our patients at City Walls. Click here to access self help leaflets.

Family Planning

City Walls runs a hugely successful Family Planning Clinic every Wednesday evening, this is led by Dr Hughes, Dr Greensill and the Nurse Manager, together with our practice nurses and with receptionist back-up. We have been approved as a Family Planning Training Centre for other GPs and Nurses. There is a great deal of care, patient education and delivery of an effective service being provided at this clinic. By offering a drop in service at this weekly clinic in addition to the booked appointments, we feel that we are achieving reduced numbers of teenage pregnancies as detailed in the NHS plan.

Chronic Disease Clinics

The Practice Nurses are delivering services to our patients through effective clinic sessions listed below:

Diabetes, Respiratory, Chronic Heart Disease and Chronic Kidney Disease.

Recall systems are in place to allow us to contact all the patients with the above conditions, through our excellent computer coding systems.

Minor Surgery

City Walls offers regular Minor Surgery Clinics and we use our own in-house Dermatology clinics for expert opinions on all Minor Surgery. Dr Shanahan, as well as being a clinical assistant in Dermatology for the Countess of Chester, is also a GPwSI Dermatology in the community dermatology service and the practice can make referrals direct to him and also to Dr Daniel Jones who offers minor surgery.

Out of Hours

The partners at City Walls Medical Centre take part in the Out Of Hours Service operated by Western Cheshire Primary Care Trust

Phlebotomy

The practice enjoys the provision of our own in-house phlebotomy service for our patients Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 12 pm by appointment only.

Flu Vaccination Service

Each year we carry out a seasonal flu vaccination programme from October onwards for at risk patients. The programme targets all chronic disease groups, Carers and patients over the age of 65. Contact the surgery to make an appointment if you fall into one of these categories.

Stop Smoking Clinic

The Surgery supports patients wishing to give up smoking. The GP or practice can refer to the Stop Smoking Service at St Martins Clinic or you can make an appointment by ringing this freephone number: 08000435134.
